The 10th Regional Professional
Short Course in Nutrition in Emergencies was run by the Asian Disaster
and Preparedness Centre (ADPC) in Bangkok, Thailand and completed on the 16th October,
2015.
Congratulations to the 21 participants who successfully completed the 11 day course. They came with a range of backgrounds from health, nutrition, and programme management, and are working in Asia, Africa,
and the Middle East for UN agencies, governments, donors, and NGOs.
The 11 day course contained 15 modules, ranging from preparedness to assessment and response, humanitarian standards, advocacy and communication, and included fieldwork in a rural area and a day-long emergency simulation exercise.
The trainers and facilitators for the course came from ADPC, UNICEF, the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA), UCL, and ENN. The simulation exercise was run this year by an emergency simulation expert from South Africa. Throughout the course a wide range of training approaches were used, with active involvement of the participants.
We would like to thank all the participants, organisers, and trainers who made the course a success, and a special thank you to UNICEF for speaking at the closing ceremony. More photos from the course have been posted on our facebook page.
