First Nutrition in Emergencies Course Concludes in Tokyo

Congratulations to the more than 40 participants who took part in the first Nutrition in Emergencies training in Japan. The three day course was held in the United Nations University building in Tokyo and introduced participants to the essential aspects of emergency nutrition assessment and response.

The course was organised and hosted by the Network for Action against Malnutrition (NAM), and supported by UNICEF, WFP, World Vision, and Save the Children. It was encouraging to see the emerging interest in nutrition in Japan as well as the dedication of course participants.

A big thank you to everyone concerned for making the course a success! More photos will be posted to our Facebook page in the next few days.

New Partner Joins NIE Regional Training Initiative

We are very pleased to welcome the Network for Action Against Malnutrition (NAM) as a partner in the NIERTI.

NAM is based in Japan and was established in early 2014 with the aim of capacity building Japanese experts and volunteers for international nutrition through training courses as well as on-the-job training and field-based internships. NAM also actively promotes networking for advocacy and experience/knowledge sharing among national and international institutions and stakeholders in Japan as well as globally. To achieve its mission NAM values and promotes 1) identification and tapping of existing and potential nutrition experts in Japan who are encouraged to be the members of NAM, 2) creation of “space” where the members can learn from each other, and 3) provision of innovative, practical and updated skills and knowledge of nutrition programs through practical training and workshop which need networking with international NGOs specialized in nutrition.

NAM is organising a NIE course in Tokyo in October. More details will be posted soon.
