The 2019 Nutrition in Emergencies Course at AUB

Congratulations to the 22 participants who successfully completed the 2019 NIE Short Course run by the American University Beirut! The course ran from 17th to 29th of June and participants included nutritionists, health care professionals, and humanitarian workers from different countries, including (World Food Programme (Syria), Save the children (Yemen), UNICEF (Afghanistan), Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (Jordan)), as well as independent participants from Lebanon and Pakistan.

The course included a simulation exercise that took place at AUB’s Advancing Research Enabling Communities Center (AREC) in the Bekaa.

AUB Announces its 2019 Course in NIE

We are are pleased to let you know that the American University in Beirut will be running a professional short course in Nutrition in Emergencies, from June 17th to June 29th, 2019. 

The course will include modules on emergency assessments and interventions, as well as an emergency simulation exercise, based in the AUB field site in the Bekaa Valley. More details are available by emailing

The 7th Asian NIE Course is Underway in Bangkok

Fourteen participants from Africa, Asia, North America and Oceania are attending the 7th Training Course on Nutrition in Emergencies (NIE-7), which is taking place at the Asian Disaster and Preparedness Centre's (ADPC) headquarters in Bangkok from 1 - 12 October, with support from the University College London, Institute for Global Health. The course was opened by Hans Guttman, Executive Director of ADPC. Over the 2 weeks of the course, participants are building their skills in effectively addressing nutritional challenges during emergencies.

The NIE Course in Lebanon - 2018

Belated congratulations to the 13 participants who successfully completed the 2018 NIE Short Course run by AUB in Lebanon! The course ran from 10th and 21th July and included participants currently working in  Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Yemen, Burundi, and Ethiopia.
